Up to the Minutes
Suncoast Mustang Club
Meeting Minutes March 12, 2007
The meeting was called to order at 7:45pm by President Wayne Farnham at Autoway Ford.
We learned that Autoway Ford will bring at least one new car to the Spring Fling Car Show on April 28. It’s possible they may bring two. There will be a dynamometer available at the show to find out how much horsepower you have at the rear wheels. For all of those people who like to help out other people by donating blood there will be a bloodmobile available at the car show also.
Club member Ann Demmons had a slip and fall injury which resulted in a broken bone or two. The club sent her flowers and she and Mark were grateful for the support. We wish her a speedy recovery.
We decided to cancel the Post Office box that we have used for receiving club mail. The cost was $72 for a year and we figured we could save that money by having all mail sent to club treasurer Bill Dellert.
Lucky club member Denise Moody won the 50/50 drawing for $28 at the meeting.
One more plea was made for club members who haven’t signed up for the upcoming Spring Fling Car Show. Please send in your entry form so we can have a decent turnout at the show. This show will be an unqualified success if every member would enter their car.
Respectfully submitted,
Steve Hansen

all members:
Our club’s car show is scheduled for April 28, 2007. As most of you that regularly attend car shows know, there are prizes raffled at some point in the event. As prize committee chairpersons, we are asking all club members to help with prizes by way of :
1) Donating some new item that you may have received via a gift you don’t want or use (it does not have to be a car item)
2) Get your boss, local store, business associate, or friend to donate a gift. Their business name will be recognized (be sure to put their name on the gift) or
3) If you can’t participate with 1 or 2, and only if you are able, donate $10 to the club for use in buying raffle prizes.
Many of you have already donated and we really appreciate your support. But if you haven’t, bring your donation to the April meeting or mail your check to either Connie O’Connor at 10434 112th Way N., Largo, FL 33778 or Kathy Hansen at 14340 84th Terrace N, Seminole, FL 33776. Make checks payable to the chairperson you are sending the check to and mark the check as donation for SMC. My Auto-biography
by ROLAND MARTENS
I came into the world in June 1999. Most of my siblings preceded me by many months. Thousands of them had the designation of 35th Anniversary Mustang. But, you see, I was different enough to be designated as a limited edition because there were relatively few of us produced. In fact, if you consider the fact that only our special edition came in Performance Red and that I am a convertible, in automotive terms, that makes me even more unique. We limited edition models were available only in black, white, silver and Performance Red and that color was produced on the least cars. All the other 1999 Mustangs came in lots of different colors. But that is just the beginning of how we limited edition models were different from other “Stangs”.
Let’s compare me from the ground up and front to back to illustrate just how different we are (believe me, only Mustang experts would be aware of these subtle differences). What I think makes me really look sharp are my five spoke brushed aluminum wheels. These add a sparkle to my personality that the other “99’s with aluminum painted rims just didn’t have. In fact, I know this feature really attracted my owner to me when he saw one of us while on vacation in Waynesville, N.C. When he got back to Florida he found that most dealers never heard of me. But he was so in love with my unique appearance that he persevered until he found a dealer who was willing to do the computer research to find me. And to show how much he cared for me, he even violated his own car bargaining principals and actually paid LIST PRICE to purchase me. He never did that before, and I doubt that he will ever do it again. Oh well! If you have the passion, go for it even if you have to pay the price.
Now let’s go for the front-to-back differences. I have an exclusive black stripe on my hood leading to a totally different hood scope than other 99’s. Both my rocker panels and fake side air scoops are different. And I have fancy black cross-hatched plastic panels in back between the tail lights and I was spoiled with a different spoiler on my trunk lid. Then some stylist took a careful look inside me and added silver leather to my door panels and the center of my seats. Finally, for that final subtle different touch, my instrument panel was given a silver background with the words “35th Anniversary” proudly displayed among the gauges.
So if you don’t know my Mustang family very well, you may not notice my differences, but I’ll assure you that my owner knows and appreciates my differences. In fact, I can’t help but agree with him that I am a very special limited production 35th anniversary Mustang!!
