A Word From Wayne

HELLO AGAIN.
Suncoast Mustang Club picnic at Philippe Park was held on November 11th at 11:00 a.m. until 5:00pm. Hamburgers, hot dogs, and drinks were provided. We had a little over 20 people attend our annual picnic. Almost everyone had trouble getting there due to the traffic snarls of the Iron Man Triathlon. Everyone ate well and had a good time. The weather was absolutely gorgeous. Special thanks go out to Karen Frank for arranging all the reservations and permits involved. Hope to see an even bigger turn out for next year.
November’s monthly Suncoast Mustang Club meeting was held at Autoway Ford. The meeting began at 7:30. We had an open discussion for ideas for next year’s events and ideas for new places to hold our dinner meetings. Our board will review the many great ideas and come up with an itinerary for the upcoming New Year. We also discussed the plans for this next year’s car show. We are still in the early stages of planning. The tentative date is April 28, 2007. Steve Hansen will be this year’s show chairman.
The Mustang Club of West Central Florida’s 15th Annual Super Sunday Mustang, Shelby, and Ford show was held at Desoto Square Mall in Bradenton on November 19th. Registration began at 8:00 a.m. There were over 150 cars. Most of the cars were Mustangs, many “restomods”. With an even split between new and old, including four brand new Shelby’s spotted. Also, quite a few people got an early start on their Christmas shopping. The weather was great. Awards were given out at 3:00 p.m.
Also, I can’t say enough about this month’s upcoming activity. On December 9th we are having out annual Christmas party to be held at the Mainlands Club House number 1. I’m sure that everybody has seen the flyers and has heard us talking about it. This party is for you, the club members. I think this event gets more fun each year we do it. We always have great food and good times. So come on out and have a great time with the rest of us. I invite you to bring friends, but don’t forget you must R.S.V.P. to Bill Dellert so we have and accurate count for the food. We really encourage everybody to bring a unisex gift, one per person. Believe me; you really don't want to miss out in this year’s gift exchange!!!Speaking of gift exchanges, I really encourage everybody to show up for this year’s annual Toys for Tots gift drive and caravan. (If you can’t make it and still want to donate, please feel free to drop it off at Restomod Plus). Bring your car and everyone will meet up at Restomod plus by 5:00 p.m. I know it’s a lousy time, but it is all worthwhile. We will leave RestomodPlus no later then 5:15 p.m. and caravan over to the "Toys r Us" store located at Brandon Town Center. When we get there we will meet up with our friends "Randy and Dave" from WQYK Radio and some volunteer Marines from the "Toys for Tots" program. We will donate the gifts and take a few minutes to take pictures with the WQYK gang and the Marines. For those of you who have never come out for this event, it is a fun thing to do for an absolutely awesome cause. Toys for Tots is a U.S. Marine Corps sponsored charity that does an amazing job giving out gifts to those who may not have a Christmas without a little help. I think we can help and maybe with your help, we can make this year’s event even bigger and better then last years!!! After the presentation we go around the corner to Smokey Bones and have dinner together and have even more good times. Don’t forget to bring some change for the Crosstown tolls.
Don’t forget there’s no meeting this month! We will meet at Autoway on January 8th, 2007. I hope everyone has an outstanding holiday season. Thanks again for letting me ramble on for another year.

Up to the Minutes
Jane Bliss, Secretary
The Suncoast Mustang Club met on Monday, November 13, 2006, at Autoway Ford in St. Petersburg. Meeting was called to order at 7:35PM by President Wayne Farnham.
Wayne welcomed everyone to the meeting.
We discussed the former Gulfport Car Show, now being held in Pinellas Park, Helen and John Watjen were the only Suncoast Mustang Club members there. They got an award for Best in Class. There were not too many vendors at the show.
At the Tampa MOSI show there were 254 cars. Our club was given a trophy for having the most cars attend from one club. John Stockowski accepted the award on our behalf.
Picnic on Saturday, November 11th had a small turnout. It was a good location; however, due to the Ironman event being held in Clearwater, there was a very low attendance at the Picnic. It was quite an ordeal just trying to get to Safety Harbor if you lived in Pinellas County. John Stockowski said he arrived late at 3:00PM (due to prior commitments) and there was no one left at the picnic.
We had discussion about the newsletter. Some members did not receive them. Wayne announced that there is a ballot in the newsletter for voting for the new officers and board members. You can fill it out and bring it to the December Christmas Party which will be held on December 9th at Mainlands in Pinellas Park. Wayne said to RSVP to Bill Dellert to let him know how many plan on attending the Christmas Party. You can either send him a check or call him and then pay at the party on December 9th. There is a charge of $12.00 per adult and $6.00 for children. Mike's Catering will take care of the food again this year since it was such a success last year. Wayne will have another exciting game for us to play. Also, bring a gift to exchange. He asks that you put some thought into the gift and don't make it man/woman specific. (No re-gifting please!) We are going to use a different method to exchange the gifts this year. Wayne said if you want, bring a friend to the dinner, just make sure that you have notified Bill and that you pay for the extra person.
Toys for Tots - our club will participate again this year. It will be held on Friday night, December 15th. More details to follow.
We are tentatively planning a car show for April 28th - in conjunction with the Pinellas Park Chamber of Commerce Barbeque Fest to be held at the England Brothers Band Showplace in Pinellas Park on 81st Avenue. Steve Hanson will be the show chairman. More details to follow.
There will be a Board Meeting on Tuesday, November 21st, at 7:00 PM at Mike's Pizza on 49th Street North.
At 8:00 PM we had a break which consisted of leftovers from the picnic.
At 8:30 PM we discussed several ideas for meetings and outings for next year. If anyone has any ideas, please contact any of the officers or board members.
There was a motion to donate $30.00 towards the memory of Jordan Anthony Rowe, Jill and Ralph Rowe's five month old grandson who recently passed away unexpectedly. Denise said that she works with Jill and Colleen and that their work place was collecting money to name a star in his memory. This $30.00 will go towards the star.
Meeting was adjourned at 9:00 PM.

Suncoast Mustang Club Picnic
The Suncoast Mustang Club held a picnic on November 11, 2006 at beautiful Philippe Park. Karen Frank had used her considerable influence to reserve Shelter # 8 for us.
The day was warm and comfortable. We went over early to stake our claim and to get the fires started, however the City of Clearwater was not cooperating. They had scheduled a Triathlon for that morning which would tie up a major north-south road until after 1:00 PM. Those members living west were unable to get to the park without some very creative navigation. Needless to say, some folks arrived late and not in the best of humor.
Chef Tom (O’Connor) lent his considerable expertise to cooking the hamburgers and hot dogs and everyone else brought a covered dish/chips/dessert to round out the meal. There were about 22 people there, but there was ample food and drink for everyone. We ate and socialized and enjoyed the nice weather in a really pleasant setting.

In Memory of Bill Eggleston…
We are sorry to announce the recent passing of SMC Member, Bill Eggleston. Bill was a member of the Tampa Bay Mustang community for over 30 years. Bill, whose career was in finance, moved to Tampa from the Chicago area and was one of the founders of Classic Mustangs of Tampa. He was very involved in the Mustang hobby, along with being a motorcycle enthusiast. Many of us got to know Bill at local shows where he proudly displayed his green ‘66 GT Convertible. Bill was always helpful with advice and encouragement to anyone who shared his interest in the hobby. Bill and his wife Dianna moved to Clearwater a few years ago and became members of SMC while continuing their membership and involvement in CMoT – now known as Mustang Club of Tampa. Sadly, Bill was diagnosed with cancer. After fighting the disease for a few years, he finally succumbed to it. Bill is survived by his wife Dianna, two sons and a daughter and his grandchildren. He will be missed by many and we send our condolences to his family.
