   A Word From Wayne

Text Box:
Hello again!

February’s meeting was held at Golden Corral. It was great seeing Orrie and Betty Engle and Bob and Sharon Wilhelm, who we haven’t seen in a while. We ate and then had a short business meeting. Our main topic of discussion was the local effort to revive the Cypress Gardens Car Show. After a lengthy discussion, we decided not to be involved. We wish all the other local clubs all the best.

Don’t forget about the Suncoast Mustang Club’s Car Show on April 28th!!! I’m hoping to see everyone there. It will be held at Town Square Plaza Park, 5010-81st Avenue N., Pinellas Park. It’s open to all Mustangs and Fords. “Day of Show” registration will be open until 10:00 a.m. Show time is 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. In an effort to get new members into the club, I challenge everyone to bring a friend to sign up and attend. For fun and games we will have the “Redneck Olympics”. We will have games like tire changing contests and two-man log cutting contests. Of course, it will all be for semi-valuable prizes.

We are asking people to solicit local auto parts stores and other places of interest to donate items for our raffle at the show. If anybody wants to donate money to purchase gifts for our raffle, please contact Connie O’Connor or Kathy Hansen. They will purchase some really neat gifts with all the money we collect. Also, if anybody is

Text Box:
interested in us getting a mobile dyno to come out for the car show, please contact me A.S.A.P.

Also, for your information, we have Skeeters Smoke House BBQ bringing their smoker and grill to the car show as our main concession. They will be offering hot dogs, hamburgers, and awesome smoked BBQ!!! Come out and have a great time and I hope to see everyone there!!!

Autoway Ford has agreed to bring a new Mustang GT to the show. We also have a few vendors already scheduled. Our show date was announced in all the Mustang magazines and I heard rumors that they may attend our show looking for neat cars for upcoming articles. We seem to be getting a great many calls about the show, so it looks very promising to be a big event. Don’t miss it!!!

Next month’s meeting will be held back at Autoway Ford at 7:30 on March 12th.
Wayne Farnham, President

Up to the Minutes

The February meeting was held at the Golden Corral restaurant.  There was a turnout of about 30 people.  As always, the food was good and plentiful.  The place was a little crowded when we first got there, but around dessert time the crowd thinned out so we could load up on the sweets without people getting in our way.

Some familiar faces showed up that we haven’t  seen in a couple of months,  Orrie and Betty Engel were there, as were Bob and Sharon Wilhelm.  Jane Bliss was given a plaque and a rousing round of applause for her many years of being the club secretary.  Thank you, Jane.

The business portion of the meeting was called to order by President Wayne Farnham at 8:00 p.m.  The main topic of discussion was a call from some other central Florida Mustang clubs about reviving the Cypress Gardens show.  After much discussion, both pro and con, the club decided to take a “wait and see” attitude to see what happens with the show this year.  One of the main reasons we had to pass this year was because each club needed to kick in $1000 for seed money that our club doesn’t really have right now.  Also, the date of the show is November 17-18, which is the same weekend as the Super Sunday in Bradenton and we weren’t sure how that would turn out with two big shows on the same weekend in central Florida.  So,  we’ll see what happens and maybe we can do something next year if they try it again.

Our Spring Fling Car Show on April 28 is fast approaching.  Please, please, please if you haven’t entered a car yet, do so now.  And get a friend to enter also.  We need to have a good turnout for this show.  If you’re a club member that hasn’t been very active, come on out and get involved, you will have fun, Wayne guarantees it.  You won’t want to miss the “Redneck Olympics” we are having in conjunction with the show.  Yee Haw!

P.S.  You don’t have to have a show quality car to enter that’s okay,  people are very interested in cars that are a work in progress, so bring out your car that is a work in progress.  You can download an entry form on www.restomodplus.com (or use the one in this month’s newsletter).

Another club member has stepped up to the plate and volunteered to be the door prize chairwoman.  Let’s all give it up for Connie O’Connor.  She has requested that all club members either contribute $10 or bring a gift to the March club meeting at Autoway Ford to be used as door prizes at the show.

The newsletter editor would like to invite all club members to contribute an article about their car for the ongoing series “AUTO-biography”.  We won’t have stories unless you write them, so share the “autobiography” of your car.  Please e-mail your article to jdellert121@hotmail.com or you can mail it to Judy Dellert, 6705 Cardinal Drive South, St. Petersburg, Fl 33707-3803

Respectfully submitted,

Steve Hansen

SMC Membership Renewal

It is once again time to renew your membership to SMC.  Dues will remain the same, $20.00 annually.  The pro-rated dues are only for new members, not for members who pay later in the year.  Along with paying your dues, it is very important that you completely fill out a membership application – even if everything is the same from last year.  The applications are important for our records.  Also, make sure you check off how you want your newsletter sent to you.   Receiving the newsletter via e-mail does save the club money, but if you prefer receiving it by mail, please indicate that on the application.

We are an official MCA sponsored club and it is important that we have as many MCA members as possible in our club.  Be sure to let us know if you belong to MCA (and if you don’t belong, please consider joining).  You may hand-deliver your application and dues to Bill Dellert at the SMC club meetings or mail to Bill at the address on the application.  Please do not send applications to the club’s post office box address. All 2006 members will continue to receive the newsletter through March; those who do not renew by that time will no longer be considered active members.

*This is the last issue of Pony Tales for members who have not paid their 2007 dues.
